BSE celebrated by having a cake cutting ceremony on the occasion of Sensex’s historic feat of crossing 60,000 peak. Sensex covered the journey from 50,000 in January 2021 to the unprecedented 60,000 mark in just 8 months. CEO of BSE tweeted “Congratulations India. To celebrate @SENSEX_BSE at 60,000, We meet virtually at physical cake cutting ceremony outside of Bullgate at BSE today at 4 pm. Please be virtual and follow the COVID protocol,” Ashish Chauhan, CEO BSE.
If the sector-wise performance is reviewed, Realty, IT, Media and Telecom indices were the best performers since May 18, 2021. Auto, pharma and metal indices have been the lowest. Amongst BSE 200 stocks, IRCTC, JSW Energy, Mindtree, and Mphasis have risen more than 100 per cent over this period. LTI, LTTS, Godrej Properties and Zee Ent have been significant gainers too. The market cap of all listed companies consolidated together crosses Rs 250 lakh crore mark.
