Hyderabad: The Telangana Academy for Skill & Knowledge (TASK) inked several pacts with multiple entities on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day here on Saturday. TASK signed MoUs with ICICI Foundation, Tata Strive, Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CoE), CareerPedia, Edunet Foundation, Mahindra University and Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages (HCCB) to train students in Telangana to make them more employable.
The MoU with Mahindra University is to setup TASK – Kalam Centre For Automotive Excellence, where the youth of Telangana will be skilled for the EV industry.
An MoU with the Retail Association of India (RAI), Ratnadeep & TASK has been entered to skill 15000 class 8,10 and dropout’s for the growing Retail Industry in Telangana. An initiative of making One Million Roboticists in Telangana was also announced by TASK in collaboration with All India Robotics Association (AIRA).
Taking flight
In what can be termed as a life changing moment, several batches of students trained under the TASK umbrella including nurses, plumbers and construction related skilled personnel were awarded certificates and would be leaving for Japan, Canada and other countries. TASK CEO, Srikant Sinha said that till date more than 8 lakh students in different courses were trained and with the inking of pacts with different organisations, skilling of youth in Telangana will only gain traction.
Sea of students
The Gachibowli stadium was a sea of students as every inch of space was occupied as more than 5,000 students from every nook and corner of the state descended at the sprawling stadium to take part in the event. Many students who gained employment and who would be leaving for Toronto and Japan were accompanied by their parents.
Minister Malla Reddy entralls
Labour minister C Malla Reddy livened up the event with anecdotes from his life and when he said, “Without skill you are nil,” the stadium was engulfed with claps from the student community. He further said that a few decades ago, one had to do back-breaking work to make a living such as farming but today, the youth can harness technology and make it big.
V Srinivas Goud, Minister for Excise & Prohibition, Sports, & Youth Services, Archaeology, Government of Telangana exhorted the youth to work hard and stated that after the Telangana came to power employment opportunities have risen. One no longer needs to go abroad. G Ranjith Reddy, MP, Chevella advised the youth to chalk out goals and work relentlessly.
Several success stories of individuals who gained employment after training was one of the highlights of the event. S Sanju from Bhadrachalam undertook a three month craft course and today handles Rs 1 lakh sales. He said that his life took a turn for the good and he is now happy and settled. Likewise, Sravanthi from Medchal said that she learnt the skills from NITHIM and now has been allotted space to set up a canteen at Medchal Collectorate.
Dr Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, IT E&C and Vice Chairman, TASK and Rani Kumudini, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Labour, Employment Training & Factories, Govt of Telangana were present on the occasion.
