10-point action plan to combat winter air pollution unveiled by Delhi CM

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has unveiled a 10-point “winter action plan” that focuses on dust control, using a bio-decomposer developed by Pusa institute, installing smog towers and checking waste burning and vehicular emissions to control air pollution. Additionally, he has urged the neighboring states to retrofit thermal power plants in NCR areas with the latest technology and to ensure the use of CNG-operated vehicles and cleaner fuel in industries in the NCR region. He has highlighted the need of proper measures of stubble burning as well. He has appealed to the governments of neighboring states to work hand-in-hand to fight air pollution in the upcoming winter season.

75 teams have been formed to survey national capital and impose penalty on people who violate the pollution norms. 250 teams would be working towards stopping of burning of garbage. Ban on firecrackers have already been imposed much in advance. Efforts are underway to strengthen Green War Rooms in Delhi. Pollution hotspots would be checked via app. CM has encouraged Delhiites to monitor the app and lodge complaints in case of violation
